Sports injury & soft tissue

The injury that comes back every training block.

For runners and lifters who have already tried rest, stretching, and a few rounds of treatment.

Why it returns

The loop behind a recurring injury.

A cycle, not a single event

Not one injury happening five times. One loop running five times. Select a stage to see what happens there.

The technique

What Graston does.

Instrument assisted soft tissue work. Steel instruments find and work through scar tissue and restriction that hands alone miss, paired with loading so the change holds.

I use it most often for shoulders, hamstrings, calves, hips, and the IT band.

Common cases

Where it usually shows up.

Running

Calf, hamstring, and IT band strain

Mid training block, when volume goes up and recovery does not.

Lifting

Shoulder and low back restriction

Pain at one point in the lift, and range of motion that quietly narrowed.

General

Old injuries that never cleared

The one you stopped mentioning because it is just how it is now.

Questions

Before you book.

Do I have to stop training? +
Usually not. Most plans change what you train and how much rather than stopping you. Patients have kept marathon training going through treatment with me.
Does Graston hurt? +
It can be uncomfortable while it is happening, and some people bruise slightly afterward. I work within what you can tolerate and tell you what to expect first.
How soon will I feel a difference? +
Some people feel a change in range of motion the same day. Holding that change takes a few visits and the work you do in between.
